I hate driving in the summer when the steering wheel is hot. I put a pair of leather gloves in the glove compartment just in case. Nowadays steering wheels are mostly made of soft material, usually covered with leather. However, the steering wheel may still be hot. The sun visor on the windshield helps, but sometimes I think about turning it up. I once laced a leather steering wheel cover on one of my cars but it took forever. It's summer and it's sunny in Southern California. Reaching out of the glove box to grab gloves just to drive a few miles seems like too much hassle. I took a chance and ordered this lock for the steering wheel cover. It's Alcantara, which I like. The Alcantara finish is very pleasant to the touch and pleasant to the touch. Steering wheel mounting is "SNAP" (pun intended). Feel comfortable with this hubcap. I just want the cover to cover most of the wheel, especially near the thumb rest at the top of the wheel. Instead of centering the covers, I moved the covers up a bit as my hands usually hold the top of the handlebars. I noticed that there is a bump/wart on the left steering wheel cover near where my thumb would rest. This worries me to no end as I will keep touching it and end up placing the material in that exact spot. There was also a small stain on the right hubcap around 3 o'clock. Alcantara is removed from the substrate at this point. He won't do anything and I can't feel him running his fingers over the spot. But now I know it is so. I always look for it when I drive. It's actually distracting, but I can't help it. Two irritants were eliminated by removing both steering wheel covers and flipping them over. Connecting was quick and easy. The wart is now backside away from me where my hand doesn't touch it. The other spot on the right is on the other side, which I can't see either. I only mentioned this to emphasize that these handlebar covers are very easy to fit. There is a temperature difference between the surface of this steering wheel cover and the steering wheel itself. So far, the temperature on the steering wheel cover has not reached such a point that I still have to use driving gloves. If this steering wheel cover covers most of the steering wheel, it will be a good result. It mounts easily and stays securely on the handlebars. Looks good too, but I bet it would look even better with more coverage. It would be a solid 5 star product if it covered most of the steering wheel.
