I was so excited when this arrived because I wanted to improve the microphone sound quality for my iPhone 12 Pro for those short videos that I record and send to friends. Well, it soon got squeezed as the mic just didn't work with my iPhone. So I took it out of the box and put it in my iPhone and it froze. Okay, maybe it's just a firmware update and I need to fix it. I update the firmware through the official Shure app and right after the firmware update I press a few buttons and my iPhone freezes. Okay, maybe I just needed a reboot. nope Open any app, start using the mic and go to the app switcher and the mic freezes on my iPhone. I tried to mute the microphone after I took a recording and my iPhone froze. No matter what I tried, this mic didn't work well with my iPhone. Note. When I say my iPhone is frozen, I mean the screen freezes, then the phone turns off and restarts automatically. HOWEVER, I did get some recordings, and if they were phenomenally better than recordings from the iPhone's built-in mic, I figured it might be worth the effort. I plugged in good headphones and listened to them (compared to some I recorded without a mic). In general, the sound became more directional, but the quality did not improve. I literally sounded like I was talking into my phone instead of around it, but the quality wasn't any better when comparing mic to mic. And that was after tweaking some things about the app to make it sound as good as possible. Is it worth $200? I did not think. I heard my voice in a really good microphone, but it sounded like the iPhone's built-in microphone was pointing in the right direction. And definitely not worth the money because of the hassle I had with my iPhone freezing and restarting.
