MY LAPTOP, IN THE WELL SOFT SLEEVE AND TIMBUK2 LAPTOP BAG, WAS EVEN DAMAGED WHEN THE PACKAGE WAS PLACED ON THE MAINTAINED FLOOR ONLY TWO SLIGHTLY. ZERO. HOW TO SAVE 50 CENTS ON FOAM INSERTS AND COST YOU AN UNBEATABLE LAPPIE. NOT COOL, TIMBUK2, NOT COOL. This is a wonderful product: high quality materials and a great example of everything in its place, everything in its place design. In this review I would only add a few nits. First upholstery. The back could be a little more padded, as could the laptop compartment. Speaking of the laptop slot, my 13-inch Dell with the sleeve makes the most of the space. You should be aware of size restrictions. Second, the skin. Pretty, yes, but it's actually part of the bag's function. The front closures are all leather and the back straps are connected to thick leather straps at the top of the bag. Everything is fine except I'm a restless wart and I'm worried it could become a major defect over time. In other words, when you buy this bag you are confident in Timbuk2's build quality, its warranty and yours. Willingness to oil skin from time to time to keep it supple and sharp. The backpack makes a quite robust impression. Perhaps Goruk is not durable, ie. bombproof. But who wants to lug around a big piece of Cordura on their back all day when you can have such a smart, well-designed backpack? And the Timbuk2 comes with a lifetime warranty. Which should allay most fears and allow you to really enjoy this accessory.
