To repair an intermittently leaking or running Sterling Windham toilet 404515

I have a 16 year old Sterling Windham 404515 toilet that was intermittently leaking water from the tank into the bowl. When I asked a plumber at a large shop what to do, he recommended using a Korky toilet repair kit. This turned out to be a hassle and a waste of money as the gasket on this kit didn't fit my Kohler toilet and was leaking onto the floor causing another problem. So I did my own research and decided to replace the fill valve, purge valve, tank gasket and baffle with genuine Kohler products. Replacing the inflation valve was easy. Just turn off the water in the toilet. Flush the toilet (lift the flap to remove as much water as possible). Place a bucket under the valve to catch any remaining water from the tank or supply hose. Disconnect this hose. Remove the mounting nut. Remove the old fill valve. Install a new fill valve. Make sure the top of this valve is 3 inches above the overflow pipe. This will automatically set the Critical Level (CL) to 1 inch above the top of the overflow pipe. Connect the filling hose from the valve restrictor (blue = 18%) to the inside of the flushing tube. Reinstall the mounting nut to secure the inflation valve, then reinstall the supply hose. Turn on the water.
