I received a case for a vintage sterling silver pen that I bought for my birthday and the pen is so fragile I decided to buy a plain cheap velvet case to complement the case. Most of the time I just use velvet as a case liner to give the pen an extra layer of protection. This makes it firm but keeps it secure.
