We just moved into an apartment where the spirit of the cat of the last dogma lives. After using black light to find out where the cat's urine was (mostly on the baseboards in each room) I used this product. The smell of the product is not overpowering. I've cleaned the boards with it and think I can apply the product a few more times, but the old evil specter has kind of died down. Be careful not to leave this product in puddles on your hardwood for too long as it will fog up on the part of the floor where I soaked it and left it for 20 minutes. (which was too long ago)
