There are many good things to say about this cat tree. The case appears to be of good quality. There is a lot of wood on the price list. It has so many elements that your kittens are sure to find something they will love. Ours literally couldn't stay away long enough for me to finish building it. In addition, many items can be moved if you need them in a special way in your space. The first issue I had was that upon unpacking I noticed that the top platform looked like the side panel had broken off inside the cover. It didn't really affect the design so I'll fix it with some pins later, but it didn't make a good first impression. My second problem came from the double sided screws you have to screw in. Thread the rack through the hole in the wood and screw another rack onto it. These bolts are basically not long enough to provide a stable hold on either side of the piece of wood. In some cases I had to detach them from the bottom post to at least see enough for the top post to grab. Again, once tightened, it didn't seem to affect stability, so I kept pulling. The final straw was when I set the top rack for an already broken platform. As soon as I hooked the pin into the bolt (see above) it started to tighten, but then suddenly loosened and kept spinning. When I tried to lift it it immediately detached and I saw that the nut inside the post had popped right out of the plastic plug. The whole piece was damaged. Luckily I still had a "spare" from the other scratching post we left the post off of, so our kittens peaked. But I was totally disappointed with everything. I give it 2.5 stars rounded up to 3 because our cats haven't strayed from it since installing it.
