These clips are made from nice heavy duty plastic. They really work for thick hair. I have thin but thick hair that reaches down to my chest. I tucked one in in the morning so my hair wouldn't fall in my face while I was doing housework. I was impressed that I didn't have to move or adjust it once a day! My hair is usually slippery, but there are a lot of them, so I haven't had any luck with this one. I can't get them to look good on my hair so I'll probably only use them at home. In this case, I really couldn't tell if I preferred it to a ponytail or not.
