I was surprised. 5 stars mean something fantastic. Here price, quality, packaging, delivery time was all great. This radio is in no way inferior to a similar offering from Sony. (can't remember the number but I have two that are very similar to this radio) in terms of sound clarity, volume and reception. I have had, and still have, dozens of compact radios and this is one of the best. I'm mostly deaf in one ear so stereo gets lost for me so I'm kind of a pro with these types of radios. The sound is really decent at half volume, as long as all these types of radio can be played without distortion. However, during my first test I was not able to set up my regional chime/time/weather stations on shortwave, but that could be for a number of reasons. My 40 year old GE TV/SW/AM-FM sometimes can't receive it either. However, I caught a few SW stations in the middle of the day, so the feature works. slowly or you will miss stations. For $10 I get 2 more Update: I'll change my rating to 1 star within 1 week. The station number sticker has curled up and peeled off! Sticker! I confess she looked good enough to fool me. Didn't notice it the first time, must have slipped. Now it looks weird.
