sadly the days of digital answering machines are coming to an end but I'm still living in the past. If I could, I'd have a rotary phone. I tried the at&t model, the radio shop model. Both didn't work AT ALL. complete nonsense. So I didn't have high hopes for this sweet green. but lo and behold, it really works. Sound quality, not great, but messages are actually being recorded and my outgoing message is understandable. hope this continues to work. but I feel like it's lucky. All of that cheap electronics is so poorly made that you may or may not find one that works. keep trying. It only took me 3 attempts.
