As a very experienced nurse I didn't want to buy this item but there is a big demand for non-contact thermometers now so I thought I'd give it a try as it has some decent reviews. This thermometer is absolutely accurate. It can literally read three different temperatures on the same person in three minutes when used correctly. Compared to oral and your thermometers, this is far from the case. Of course, oral thermometers are the most accurate, but they are clearly not suitable for non-contact temperature measurement. I change the batteries and read the instructions twice to make sure I haven't missed anything, although as a seasonal nurse I'm perfectly capable of taking my temperature accurately. This product is not even a rough approximation. I took my temperature and that of my family three times in a row less than a minute apart and the readings were drastically different, which is clearly not the case when compared to oral temperature. I understand that Tim will panic and the non-contact thermometer readings will differ from the oral or rectal temperature, but the numbers were so far apart that there wasn't even room to converge in the middle. I would not recommend this item.
