Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice design and impressive sound for the price

The design of the ZSN Pro is elegant, with a brushed metal outer casing and a smoky clear black main body that exudes high quality. The hybrid driver design provides a lush sound environment for all audio content. The main driver with balanced armature design ensures all-round sound. While I'm a touring musician, I didn't buy these to use as in-ear monitors, so your mileage may match my rating. I bought these to use with my PS4 and audio streaming but spoke to the group about the IEM. I've never heard this level of clarity from in-ear headphones. I tried it over Friendly Fires Pop/Dance Music, Peripheral Prog/Djent and was happy. The instrument separation was fantastic, the guitars really cut through the mix but the bass was a bit lacking. The tuning of this set is more suited for a guitarist or singer. The highs sound a bit dull, in no way muffled, just rounder. The guitars are clear but not shrill and the vocals never sound shrill in the upper register. The mids are full and well balanced, complementing the sound's more rounded high frequencies. The reason I would recommend these to a singer/guitarist is that while the bass is warm, it's not as loud or full as some in-ear headphones. I knew IEMs aren't Beats/Skullcandy designed to boost audio frequencies to provide a booming soundscape. But the only thing the ZSN Pro lacks is bass, and as a bassist I'm looking for exactly what I'm looking for in headphones. Now for use as gaming headphones. I used it mostly with my PS4 and the multi-drivers gave it a 3D sound experience in some games I tested. Weapon firing was satisfying, with in-game dialogue having an impressive clarity not previously heard in my Razer Hammerheads v2. While thundering with explosions and an orchestral soundtrack, their imbalance left them feeling muted. The KS is a whole different beast where they were very crisp in the mids/highs and lacked the punch I was looking for in some of the big fight scenes. But when I downloaded Hellblade: Senuas' Sacrifice, I was blown away. This game was designed with spatial/binaural audio in mind so I was blown away. I used Death Stranding as my next test. It offers fantastic surround sound and licensed music from Low Roar and CHVRCHES, you get the full spectrum of sound. But the ZSN Pro's lack of bass punch hurts, making big action moments feel a bit flat. Compared to the aforementioned Razer when it comes to gaming. In the end, I was impressed with my first experience with IEMs, but they just didn't meet my needs for my use.
