Review on Experience Natural Footwear Comfort With WHITIN Women'S Barefoot Trail Runner Shoes by Matt Schmick

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Lasted exactly one year, tread started fading about six months in

Update after one year on the 2_black model:Shoe developed a crack today that let in light rain water on a sidewalk.I wore them on 40-60 minute walks 3-4 times per week, on pavement and trails. Definitely not a long-lasting sole. BMI is 24.5 (in case anybody is curious about my weight causing excessive wear). In the last four months these shoes began to deteriorate quickly and wearing them became a chore. They became slick on slippery surfaces and let it a lot of dirt.On one hand, they’re very inexpensive and if one is willing to replace them every year, then go for it.But really I should’ve replaced them about three months ago and the price break over a better quality sole isn’t worth it to me. A Vibram sole lasted me 3 years when I was working out daily And this only lasted a year with 3-4 days of use.Short story:I got the 2_Black model (the one that looks like the Merrell Vapor Glove, not the one that has the round bits of rubber all over the toe area and listed as the "all black" model). It fits the same as the Merrell and works great. The sole isn't as tough as the Vibram, though, and after five months is starting to show wear, but it's still a good deal.Longer story:I've used the Merrell Vapor Glove shoes in black for years for working out, hiking, walking, etc. (I'm not a runner but did use it for interval training, jumping rope, hill sprints, etc.)The Merrell's Vibram sole lasts a long time and the shoe is comfortable, but when my last pair finally died (after three years of daily use) I couldn't find my size available anywhere. This is a good, inexpensive replacement for the Merrell shoe, as long as you understand the sole is not as tough as Merrell's Vibram version.

Pros
  • Reduces the risk of injury
Cons
  • The shoe may not be suitable for individuals with sesamoiditis
