Review on Sennhesier MX685 Adidas Sports Headphones by Helen Keffer

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not as durable as I had hoped.

I use headphones almost every day and they seem to kill on a regular basis. I was hoping that the Sport model would be significantly more durable than the average. Unfortunately, this didn't happen as the audio is already dropping out in one ear (and it happens no matter what device they're connected to). I don't exercise while wearing them - mostly just housework. The sound quality is noticeably different (and worse I think) than my previous pair of non-sporting Sennheiser headphones. But since I mainly listen to news and podcasts, it doesn't really bother me. Maybe foam covers would have been better, but I found them too easy to remove, so I quickly stopped experimenting with them. The landing is uncomfortable at first, but I quickly got used to it. They stay safer in my ears (for better or worse) if they get yanked out because the cord gets snagged somewhere, or if my MP3 player manages to fall out of my pocket. As for the cable, it's too long. This bothers me and the headphones can hit the ground when I have an MP3 player on a lanyard. I think the long cord might actually have shortened her life as she tends to snag on things a lot more often. I think I'll request a repair or replacement under warranty. I didn't bother them too much but I have no plans to buy another pair. However, I wouldn't say they were bad, and I still have a generally high opinion of Sennheiser products.

Pros
  • Useful beyond its intended purpose
Cons
  • There's nothing here
