This is an insanely bright light right out of the box! The light illuminates most of the wall or side of the house depending on where you place it. The remote control was nice because I could change modes without getting to the light source. I tested it at 10ft and it worked, but it needed line of sight to the light. Tried behind a large planter and through a window, both less than 5 feet away, and the lights wouldn't come on. One of the main downsides for me is the "Hide" option. This is just a color transition, it does not fade (disappear), but slowly lightens (disappears). It also didn't cycle through colors. This would be a nice, quieter option to deal with the rapidly blinking lights. Another problem is the brightness, which never changes in multicolor mode. single color mode only. It would be fun for special occasions or holidays. I could also use the single light option if I wanted. Oh yeah, don't look directly at the light or you'll see flashes of light for a while.
