Review on NB North Bayou Mobile TV Cart: Aluminum TV Stand with Wheels for 32 to 65 Inch Screens, Height-Adjustable AV Shelf, and Camera - AVF1500-50-1P-B by Ashley Ellis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I did a lot of shopping and was looking for a good stand that was a bit compact and light for ours.

I have shopped a lot and have been looking for a good stand that is reasonably compact and light weight for our 5 wheel trailer. The trailer is a 2004 model, it fits maybe a 20 inch tube tv and doesn't have a very good viewing position. I wanted to place a much larger 40" FP in the back corner so we could watch cooking, eating, lounging etc and even put it outside under a canopy if we wanted to. This device is near perfect. It's pretty light and I think it could almost fall off the truck and not crash. All devices are also industrial size. The base is made entirely of die-cast aluminum while the telescopic legs are made of extruded aluminum. Ditching all the top camera mounts can save you a good ten pounds. They've gone to extreme lengths to make it compact for portability and the legs of the base actually fold down on very strong hinges and then unfortunately you have to lock them in place with screws. If you ditch the screws and use feet or pads in place of the casters, the base folds down to about half its size for storage and is still solid. The instructions are good. Not good. The parts are boxed and labeled, making them hard to spoil if you read and follow the directions. On the other hand, the middle shelf is a bit artificial. The instructions aren't very clear on how to attach the brackets to the shelf and then the entire assembly to the column. It's easy to break a tab or tabs on a plastic shelf - like I did! The bracket on the column is also a bit suspicious. It uses two small guides that fit into the tee and expand as you tighten the screws and I think they might come out of the slots with normal use. Ideally you should use a clamp across the column before tightening the screws as it is very difficult to line up the two brackets and see if the small extensions are actually holding. For about 50 cents they could make two 1/4" x 3/4" x 2" long aluminum tees that fit into the extruded column. That way it would never fall off. It would also be nice having a handle that allows for easy adjustment of the entire tray up and down. Even better, make the tray removable for travel the rest of the unit and can't hold up if reused when it's on and turn off the flat screen when travelling, you don't have to worry about the TV falling as gravity holds it in place and the clips just keep him from sliding from side to side, but the design is so you can easily adapt a quality third-party quick-release mount so you can hang, detach, and hang it on your wall at home d can easily hang on this stand. The last element is that there is a plastic Forged handle on the back to hold tight while rolling. It would be nice if it was aluminum and attack again. It attaches to the tee's slots so you can pick up and carry everything. I only gave 4 stars for the above reasons: instructions, tray, clips and VESA mount handle. I will most likely make the changes I mentioned. I think a manufacturer could easily do the same and actually cut costs. T-nuts in the column, make the shelf detachable and slightly heavier, forego the camera mount and simply insert a flat aluminum plate for the user to add their favorite wall mount and a good grip. This would be a boon for folks with RVs. A small unit will also be a good seller. It's just right for use in our 32ft trailer with 40" LED FP, but it would be better if it was a little smaller.
