I bought this for it's intended purpose - cleaning makeup brushes. It works very well for this purpose, but is great for cleaning artists' oil brushes. Today I found some forgotten brushes with dried paint. I soaked them in Murphy's Oil Soap all day until the bristles were soft enough to wash the paint off. The matte dissolved the paint in the brush more efficiently than other tools I tried. I will be ordering a second mat in a different color so I have one for each purpose and can keep them separate.
