Full disclosure: I ended up not sticking it on the cover of my iPad. I have an original Apple keyboard. I realized that when I put this in the lid, the lid doesn't lay completely flat when I flip the front lid all the way. But if someone has another case for their device, this pen holder will work very well because it definitely keeps the pen in the holder. There is an adhesive backing that can be removed to attach the mount to the cover of the device. If you put a pen on this holder you are guaranteed not to lose your pen which is my biggest fear. This is an inexpensive alternative to ensure you know where your Apple Pencil is. In fact, I plan on sticking it somewhere - like on my desk so I can access it whenever I need it without worrying about that very expensive pencil being out of place.
