Review on Enhance Your Gaming Experience with 8 in ๐ŸŽฎ 1 Metal Thumbsticks Joysticks Replacement for Xbox One and PS4 by Francisco Taylor

Revainrating 3 out of 5

For Xbox Elite Series 1 everything is fine apart from the discs. Discs are not a good replacement

I would give 3.5 stars if possible as joysticks are a very good replacement and a good spare switch/joystick storage box comes in handy. However, magnetic disks were not the replacement I had hoped for. I bought these to see if they would fix the dangling thumbwheels on my Xbox Elite Series (v1) controller. As with many of these controllers, the thumbwheels can slip off the stand on a real analog stick module, and that's quite annoying. Unfortunately this is not the solution I was hoping to find. From the packaging everything looked like a good replacement. I like the case, everything was included in the kit. A convenient place to store regular black joysticks is beautiful and practical. Getting new screws and tools to work with is a bit of a bonus, although they come with almost every controller replacement sold. I must have 5 of these when buying new bezels and other accessories that require the original bezel to be removed. A plastic panel removal tool is not a very good tool, but still better than trying to pry something metallic like a screwdriver (which should never be used on plastic). Small screws but it works. 6 colored sticks look very good. They fit perfectly with the original Xbox Elite Series 1 discs. The different lengths are the same as the original sticks. The curved and contoured elements of the sticks are also the same as the original, if not better. The long and short sections are contoured and textured with mid-length smooth arched boning. The surface is pleasant to the touch, making the sticks a good replacement for warning sticks or adding color to your controller. Only time will tell about durability. There may be better alternatives for the price. However, in some cases you may need the included storage bag for your original mini joysticks, which other brands don't seem to offer. I can't confirm other brands yet. Now for the reason I bought this kit. I originally bought this kit to replace discs. (along with colored joysticks) I wanted to replace the original hard drives on my controller with spare hard drives because the original hard drives were loose, but the hard drives would technically work, but in fact they are weaker than the originals. Just a hair's breadth, but enough to make these drives not that useful for an Xbox Elite Series 1 controller, and from what I understand the PS4 controller uses the same analog switch potentiometer, so PS4 players may run into the same issue. Let me look for another free disk solution. I suspect you could do something to make the analog joystick stands thicker, e.g. B. Use masking tape or a few very small dabs of some type of hard glue/epoxy and let it dry completely before putting the discs on so the glue/epoxy acts like a wedge to keep the discs in place. It also requires precise and delicate processing with a nail file or the like. I'd prefer something more specific, but it might be a good solution for loose drives. I also prepared a small piece of painter's tape to fill in the gap between the post and the disc. Maybe a different brand or some original spare parts. If those options don't work, changing the actual potentiometers may be the only other option. If I were to do this I would like to know if the Elite v2 joystick analog potentiometers would actually work with the correct joysticks which would completely eliminate the loose drive issue. In addition, the magnets are not as strong as the original magnetic discs. They hold the joysticks in place, but they may not be enough to keep them in place during intense FPS games or similar scenarios. This might be a good option for converting a controller without the ability to use magnetic joysticks, but you might run into the same issues I mentioned above. Thank you for reading.
