Review on πŸ’» Pelican 1495 CC#1 Deluxe Computer Case: Unbeatable Protection and Style for Your Laptop by Corey Michaels

Revainrating 5 out of 5

In short, if you're looking for protection for your big laptop, this is it. But there is a price to pay.

This is a fairly large case to start with. It protects the laptop well but is a bit heavy and uncomfortable. That's the price you pay for this type of protection. This is my second Pelican laptop case, my first was the smaller 1490 with lid organizer and built in tray. I've used it for years with a 14" Dell laptop and was very pleased with the fact that I could carry the laptop with all the extras I needed (charging cable, network/USB/video cable, PCMCIA wireless /network/modem cards ) . .) in one case. I upgraded to a larger 17.3 inch Toshiba S75t and needed a new case. I ordered 1495, have been using it for almost a year now and am very happy with it. The soft case itself protects the laptop very well and it is convenient to use it in the office without a case. It fits nicely in a bag with the included accessory pouch, but due to the size of my laptop (and the full-size mouse I carry in the bag) it's a bit cramped. I like the organizer on the lid which I really liked. liked on my previous case. The zipper on the organizer is a bit inconvenient as the tab hangs off the lid when closed and can hang on the sleeve when the lid is closed (I zipped it in to hold it up). One review complained that the organizer is glued to the lid, mine is attached with screws (in my previous case it was attached with velcro). Without a built-in tray (like the 1490) there's no room for accessories. Since this would increase the size and weight of the suitcase, I realized I could live with that.

Pros
  • Comes standard with lid organization and shock tray
Cons
  • So far so good
