The lanyard has everything you need for a very good product. It came well in a big long box so the strap could be flat. However, there was a significant ripple on the strap that extended 4 to 5 inches from the end of the handle. I'm not sure if this could have happened on delivery or otherwise. I haven't been able to fully figure this out while trying the various "tricks" posted on many classic shaving forums. I showed it to a skin specialist who noticed that the skin in that area seemed different, harder - as if it had been made over a scar that was on an animal's skin. Significant flexing of the tanned side over the granite trailing edge of the bovine nose appears to have eroded the leather grain, while rubbing the back with mink oil softened it and helped it become flatter and smoother. He seems to be well on his way to becoming a much better person. Time will tell with more use.
