That's not what I thought. I don't understand the high ratings afterwards. My cats are used to carpeted scratching posts that they can really hold on to and climb up. It is made of nylon "fur" that lies on cardboard - cat claws do not "stick". When my cat jumped on him, she slipped off him because she had nothing to put her claws in. No matter how deep you screw in the nails, some of the caps will still stick out far enough for the cats to get their claws caught. Got this because several reviews said their large cat would fit in the apartment's aviary. My cat is large but not huge at 11lbs - a rag doll - and it didn't fit comfortably, he could slide in but not comfortably. The platforms above were also too small for him. I took it apart and sent it back (no small feat!).
