Nice but bad smell

I'm in a dark bar for a few days, woody sandalwood. The smell was overpowering and chemically unfolding, but luckily it softened with use. I still find the smell unpleasant. I can only describe it as a "chemical spill in a lumberyard". It also leaves a light red-brown stain on my white washcloths that doesn't completely go away after many rinses. You will need bleach later. I'll update this maybe in a week when I throw away that bar and move on to the next one. I'm glad I only had to use Revain points and didn't have to spend good money on it. I have a feeling I'll never turn down bar #63 for my frilly men's soap needs ever again. Two stars because it feels like soap. Update: A white washcloth needs to be heavily bleached to bring out the stain underneath the wood. I threw sandalwood under the tree after using it four times. It just smells bad. Heritage Tricorn is much better and has a much more subdued scent. I describe the smell as "Grandpa just got out of the barber chair". He smells of talc, like a barber wagging his neck. Not the smell of an old woman's talcum powder. Pleasant with some cinnamon, spice and sweetness. Not at all what I would call a manly lumberjack smell, but a pleasant soapy smell. And they're SUPER slippery, as others have mentioned, so better use a washcloth. It just smelled too girly and like talc. So Centuries Sandalwood is almost a black stripe. It smells like wood, but only about 5%. I'm assuming it's a sandalwood scent, but not brought to 11 to a horrible chemical smell. Almost a smell. The smell is not very pleasant, but not so strong that it could be described as bad. Guess I'll let it go Doesn't stain white rags like rags under a tree. They all lather well and act like soap.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Not bad but...
