I had experience with "traditional" RC helicopters like Syma 107 and liked them, so I decided to try one of them. It is more powerful than the others and therefore better suited for outdoor use, but slow/small enough for indoor use. I find freezing a bit more difficult, and more important is taking the time to trim the right stick once you get the hang of it, but on a second or third charge within the first few days. after taking possession of it, I got along with it quite well and I can fly it around the house, hallway, etc. without any problem. I say it's important that this thing is turned on and then placed on a PLANE surface before you begin, as it seems to calibrate its accelerometers every time you turn it on, so while that's fine I had once had this problem when i was about to fly on a small hill and he assumed the slope of the hill was flat and so wanted to fly away (and crash) every time i took off. Unplugging the battery for a second and laying it on a flat surface quickly solved the problem. The best part is that it's so light that it usually doesn't have enough momentum to break if you fall (and you will). It comes with a spare rotor kit and knocks wood, so far I haven't had to use them and this is after many impressive falls where I knocked it out of a tree with a stick and let my 11 year old fly. (which does it pretty well too!). If this is your first RC helicopter I'd suggest starting with an empty garage rather than a living room full of priceless knick-knacks, but after a while you'll be ready to either go inside to show the family, or outside where you are. I need to balance a light breeze.
