Review on Logitech 9220633 Mouse M110 Black by Mateusz Morawski ᠌

The product is okay, it's not a waste of money!

The Logitech M90/M100/M110/B90/B100/B110 family of mice are the most comfortable mice among all the modern mice I have tried, and I have tried a couple of dozen of them from the cheapest to the top ones priced around 10,000, trying to choose the best each time. Now I will compare within the M110 Silent family with the Logitech M100, which I have been using for several years (and which for me is the almost perfect mouse currently available for sale), as well as the M90 and B100, which I have just tested. All 4 models were bought in October 2022, at the same time, but in different St. Petersburg stores (the fresh M100 seems to be no different from the one bought a few years ago, which still works properly). The size and shape of all four mice are identical to the eye and to the touch. Plastic and surface texture (including the wheel) - too. From the bottom, too, everything is the same, except that the M110 has an LED and sensor on the side, while the rest have it in the center. The weight is the same within the error: 60 ± 3 g. I did not feel any differences in the behavior of the cursor. The M90 and M100 are gray with a black spacer; B100 - black with gray spacer; M110 - bottom and spacer dark gray, top to choose from. In the attached photo, the mice are in the following order: M110 Silent, M100, M90, B100. In terms of convenience, the M110 Silent loses to these mice. The M90/M100/B100 has no finger slips on the scroll wheel, the normal position of the LED, there were no jambs with the body geometry. The advantages of the M110 Silent are only in quiet buttons and the ability to choose the color of the top surface. The M90/M100/B100 buttons are really capable of waking up a sleeping person nearby, the M110 Silent buttons are unlikely. If we talk about the differences between the M100, M90 and B100, the B100 has a black base color, not gray, and according to the specification, the resolution seems to be lower (800 DPI vs. 1000), although in fact there are no differences in cursor movement speed. I didn’t find any differences between the M90 and M100 at all, except that my M90 swings obliquely from foot to foot, but it’s not a fact that this defect is specific to a particular model.

Pros
  • - Ideal shape for a comfortable two-finger grip (identical in shape and size to the eye and to the touch is identical to the Logitech M100, M90, B100 mice). - Light weight, allowing these two fingers to give the mouse great acceleration without significant effort. - Execution of the upper surface in different colors (I really like the blue one - I really love it). - Quiet buttons (not absolutely silent, but really an order of magnitude quieter than usual). Scrolling is also quiet. - The buttons are comfortable: they do not press under the weight of the fingers, but they are not tight either: they are pressed easily, quickly, clearly, pleasantly. Clear tactile feedback on both pressing and releasing.
Cons
  • - The body of the mouse consists of three parts (seen in the photo from the side): the base, the upper surface and a narrow spacer between them. So, on my mouse, the problem is that at the junction of the base and spacer, the edge of the base protrudes outward relative to the spacer by a fraction of a millimeter. And this joint is located just in the place that you hold on to with your fingers. As a result, firstly, this sharp edge irritates the fingers, and secondly, it turns out, as it were, a bevel to the top of the mouse, which makes it much less comfortable to hold it. Notice the leftmost part of the mouse in the attached close-up photo. There is no such defect in the photo in the market, so this is probably the problem of a particular copy or batch. In any case, on several M100 and M90 mice that I bought at different times, including at the same time as this M110, this is not the case. - The bottom LED is not in the center, but on the left (if you look at the mouse from above), and is directed to the side, towards the user (if you hold the mouse with your right hand). Because of this, it is worth slightly raising the mouse to move, and the red spot next to your thumb is an eyesore, and if you raise it harder and turn it a little, the diode shines blinding light directly into the eye. Unlike M100, M90, B100, where the diode is in the center and shines down. - The scroll wheel is quite smooth and at the same time spins with some effort. Individually, these properties do not cause inconvenience (smoothness is not unpleasant; the force is not too high), but in combination they lead to the fact that the adhesion of dry skin to the wheel is not enough for confident scrolling under the weight of a finger. The finger often slips. You have to put some pressure on the wheel.
