I bought mine from stock in an open box or repackaged. When it arrived it was in the original packaging and appears to have had the previous shipping label removed. Otherwise I could not say that this is a new block. All original accessories were in the box, still sealed in plastic bags, looked new and unused. The receiver itself was also boxed and looked like new. I should have guessed it was returned to Revane without even opening it. In any case, on the verification of the recipient. I bought this unit to replace an old Sony 5.1 unit that worked fine but didn't have HDMI switching. I read the reviews and was a bit concerned that there are HDMI switching issues reported in several reviews. I'm happy to say that mine has worked flawlessly so far. I connected it to a Dish Network DVR, a PS3 and a RaspberryPi with XBMC. The HDMI switch works as it should. The on-screen menus that the receiver displays on the TV make setup much easier. I've read several complaints about the remote and although mine had an issue where it seemed to stop working properly. This happened when I was setting up my RaspberryPi for a BD/DVD HDMI input. Turns out the remote was just in the wrong mode and pressing the receiver button on the remote worked again. The remote control can also be configured as a universal remote control to control other devices and devices via HDMI CEC. Onkyo calls this RIHD control. So far it works great and does what I bought it for. If it lasts as long as my old receiver, I'll call it a win.10/3/14 upgrade. So far, so good. I had no problems with the device, HDMI switching works as it should. I have a Chromecast, a Dish VIP722 DVR, an Intel Nuc with XBMC and a PS3, all connected via HDMI and working properly. I noticed that the unit heats up a bit more than the Sony unit it replaced. I rearranged my closet to have more air space around it to help. One annoyance is that when renaming inputs, you can only choose from hard-coded names. It's minor, but a bit annoying, since Sony's 10-year-old device allowed you to customize the input names to your liking.
