This duvet is light and very soft. I've had it for a few months now and I've washed it probably over 10 times. The shape and stitching are still there and the duvet will only soften over time. I will say that I sleep very well and I bought it based on the reviews of how light it is. I think this is a great everyday duvet, but I wouldn't call it an alternative to down. It's a lot thinner than any down or even down version I've had. But no matter how thin it is, it is very soft. I think that's one of the reasons why me (who likes to sleep) and my boyfriend (one of those people who would wrap themselves in fleece cocoons if they could) sleep comfortably under this blanket. I would buy it again.
