My cat was just diagnosed with arthritis but still wants to go to all her favorite places. So I started looking for LOTS of pet ladders and I had all the usual foam and plastic types in my shopping cart when I stumbled upon this type of pet ladder. Looks like the cat towers my cats know and love. My cat already knows what to do when she sees her climbing/down. I was so worried she wouldn't use the ladder I bought but she uses this one. My other cat also uses them in this regard. It is a genius idea that the stairs match the cat tower. And it's very strong, like a cat tower. I bought some regular plastic pet ladders and for some reason she doesn't use them to get down. Anyway, I don't see why they aren't suitable for a dog, but if you have a cat, get one.
