We're trying to housetrain the pup and he tends to lean forward lying down from my desk where I can't see her without getting up. By attaching this to a bookshelf across the street, I can look up and see if she's there, or perhaps has gone to a more secluded "bathroom" of her choosing. I can also tell if she's chewing on something she shouldn't. From a distance of 7 feet it's too small to tell what she's up to, but it's enough to know if I need to get up and check or if I can see if she's sleeping. This is exactly what we needed and once the pup is trained I may find another use for it. The clamp is good and strong, but not too tight to use on a veneered chipboard bookshelf frame about half an inch thick.
