Batteries aren't cheap, but a kit for the New Year's holiday and no hassle with cords is worth it. I put batteries in my eight candles when they arrived and set them on the table. Then at 5:00 p.m. I quickly turned them all on. After that, the next morning I laid them leisurely against the windows, one at a time. They came every night around 5pm until I took them off at the end of the month. The effort saved over the season was worth the cost of the batteries. The ease of installation and operation makes it a great purchase. The color could be better but not bad. The brightness is good. I'd prefer they didn't blink, but that's acceptable. Overall we are happy with our purchase.
