This is a good white noise generator, suitable for home use and compact enough for travel. There are 12 "natural" sounds including waves, thunder, running water and some lullabies. I wish there was a downpour without the occasional thunder. There are 7 true "white noises" which are mostly static at different frequencies and 7 fan noises which also vary in frequency and most of them have a pulsing noise like a poorly balanced fan can make. Overall I think most people will be able to find a sound that suits their needs. Controls are simple, with buttons to toggle between different sounds, volume up and down buttons, and a pause/play button. There's another button that lets you press the timer for 30, 60, or 90 minutes, which is handy if you don't want it to run all night. brightness levels. The darkest level is probably great for a child's room - just enough light for a parent to cross the room in the middle of the night without tripping over anything. There is only one color - warm yellow and white. Overall I'm very happy I have it. I know this will be useful for masking noise from outside the home and for masking hotel noise when I travel.
