Yes, it's waterproof. Yes, you can still use the touchpad and fingerprint recognition. Four stars because the thing you put on the back as a stand could be a bit better, but it's really cool that it also has a ring so it's a lot sturdier to hold with one finger. Overall it's well thought out and exactly as advertised if that's what you're looking for. I am very picky about my iPads and this is my choice.
