Review on TR-1166: Exquisite Handmade Tracker Knife on Exclusive Promotional Offer by Larry Simpson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

pursuer blade; Get the real deal.

First off, the Tracker Knife was invented by Tom Brown Jr. and is a cheap fake at best. The flat edge of the blade should blend smoothly into the curved "belly" of the knife. This blade has not. The serrations at the top of the blade serve as acceptable woodcuts for tasks that craftsmen appreciate. The hardness of the steel varies, my sample was very soft on the edge in some places, and quite hardened in some others. However, a cheap file easily bites the steel along the edge, calling into question the hardening and quality of the steel. Shell: Another very volatile aspect. The quality of the leather ranged from very good to very fine (inferior quality). So two stars out of five for the sheath due to too much variation in the thickness of the leather and foam spacer (tight foam padding isn't really a problem, just the quality is questionable) Overall, this is one of the coolest knives you can buy at a great price. Price. I would go for the legal version if it wasn't so cheap :) On the "Pro" side; Damascus looks very cool. The micarta handle is strong and durable. Damascus looks very nice, I'll probably shape and temper this instrument to my liking. But buying the original would have saved me the trouble, hence my rating is 3/5.
