I had to return my first bag. One of the buckles had a loose latch switch that was loose and bad stitching on the flap. The second one I got had better locking switches that actually stayed where I put them even though they were still too loose. They hardly take any pressure to slide and are easy to change if the bag rubs against something. I'm not exactly sure why they block in the first place. It seems unnecessary to me. The stitching of the second pocket was slightly better, although not perfect. My main complaint would definitely be the locking buckles. The carry handle on the flap isn't as big and hides a better handle underneath, although if they let the bottom handle go through it would negate some of the flap's water resistance. I love that it has lots of MOLLE straps and the flap closes the outer ones and hides whatever you have attached. This makes the bag much cleaner, eliminates snagging and makes it more acceptable to use in public places. I also really like the access to the main compartment. At the top there is a wide flap with a handle and a double zipper. You can just grab the handle and tear off the valve, giving you instant access to everything. Another design option aside from the locking buckles that I found questionable is the decision to use lockable zippers in the pen/office compartment instead of the laptop compartment. There are rubber tubes on the pen compartment zippers to stiffen the zippers that cannot be padlocked. This could be the reason as you can easily attach the padlock to the loops in the laptop compartment. although the loops can be easily untied and threading the lock through metal is more secure. The bag wasn't made very rigid, presumably to make it more "packable". This prevents the bag from standing upright on its own. Perhaps you can add a hard rectangular material to the bottom of the main compartment to help it hold its shape and stand upright. The map/work tray area folds in half when something is attached to the outer MOLLE loops due to the weight of attached items. Overall I think this is a very functional bag, although not without its quirks. This MOD version is essentially a ditch plus a removable external valve. So if you don't need a valve and Ditch is cheaper, use it. If you need a flapper or want a different color and Ditch plus a separate flapper is cheaper, use it. https://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Vacuum-Insulated-Stainless-Hydration/dp/B000FJ9DOK/ barely fits in the side pockets, but the rubber around it is a bit annoying. The only visible wear is on the edges of the flap. They're starting to get a little fuzzy.
