I bought these for hurricane season, we usually don't have power for at least a week. It took about 2 hours to charge them via the supplied USB cable (btw they only partially supply the cable and not the socket/plug). When I first got them I charged 1 and set it to the lowest brightness. After waiting 3 days for it to go off I just turned it off and put it away. Apart from the 1 I charged when I received it I didn't even charge the others which seemed to arrive with enough charge for at least 5 hours (our power came back on after 5 hours so I turned them all off and reloaded them).
