The plastic doesn't smell as strongly as it did with the previous, cheaper pen, and while there is still a little odor, it's not unpleasant. There are no issues with the rods themselves, and the pen is simple to refill. I appreciated the clear packaging and the language on the box, which saved me time looking it up online. Although the child "draws" every day, they haven't used up all 100 meters of plastic yet. Handiwork lasts, and it's fun to play with. A lengthy line connects the power source to the outlet; the European plug has been removed. When the pen is active (shown by a green screen), the rod feed speed is being set.
