Considering the cost, power and versatility of these flashlights they are extremely useful and extremely portable for use on set. I have five of these and use them for portraits that are very different from the standard softbox/beauty plate look. It took me a few minutes to figure out that you have to turn the daylight/incandescent switches up and down individually to adjust the color temperature. It's a minor annoyance that the light turns itself on when you put it on its back - an easy fix by gluing on a small rubber stopper so the push button switch doesn't touch the surface. Instead of expensive Sony batteries, I bought replacement Sony AA adapters for about $3 each to use my rechargeable AA flash batteries - the lights last for hours. The device's ability to produce rich colored light without having to mess around with gels is very useful to me. The color management switch on the back isn't particularly intuitive to use, it's a bit fiddly. Much better is Yongnuo's free smartphone app for Bluetooth control, which allows you to set the desired color/saturation very quickly. The only problem is that it only works for one light source, so setting up multiple lights is very frustrating. I use a piece of tracing paper to soften the pattern on the LEDs and a thin strip of Velcro around the edge of the device to attach thin black plastic from an art store as curtains.
