This camera is ideal for beginners. I also bought it for travel as it is small, compact and light. As a beginner photographer, I find it fairly easy to set up all of the camera's functions and learn how to use them. Focus points can be set easily using the touchscreen or by moving the joystick. The portrait mode is quite adequate. I have an Instax Mini photo printer that I can connect to the camera and print straight from the camera. In short, it's great for beginners if you want to improve your photography game.
