Don't put it on your cat right away. You really stink. I recommend opening them up and letting them air out for at least a week. After that most of the smell is gone. The first one I gave didn't cause any negative side effects in my cat. Despite the smell, she still ate well. I only give 4 stars because of the smell. If they really last 8 months after losing a week or two, it's okay to let an air out.
