I bought these to hold simple stud earrings and ring that I make and sell at shows. The grey is much more flocked than the white. With all the texture in the grey material it seems more appropriate for bolder items, rather than the simple tiny studs shown in the white one in my pic, as the visuals from the texture can take a little focus off the jewelry (small detail, but important to people who are trying to display jewelry in it's best light). Simple thickish paper backing pasted on the back, but that's fine. Wide bands like the one on my hand in the 1st pic would never fit in holders like this, btw, while the snakeskin band in the gray tray is 3.8mm wide and easily fits. Great purchases!
