I bought these to add detail and trim 25-32mm wargame buildings (and other structures). I enjoy designing for my hobby - tabletop wargames. These little "boards" appear to be very uniform in size and shape (5 and 1/2 inches long and just over 1/8 inch wide (about 4 mm) and very thin - only about 1/16 inch), though they are rare Stick may have a crease or other defect. Luckily, since my designs often don't need the full length, I can cut off the damaged piece, so there is very little waste. All in all these tiny boards are extremely useful to me and look great as paneling, Tudor house beams and just about any building trim such as around doors and windows. Three or four sticks glued lengthwise form strong, thick legs for watchtowers. and other similar structures, and individual whole or broken pieces can be used as cross members and the like, leaving a rather neat structure. Elmer's glue sticks are great for this type of job - they're a lot easier and less messy than regular PVA glue. When these planks are ripped (cut lengthwise down the middle) they are also almost perfect (in my opinion at least) for making stair rungs, attaching "rails" to posts (toothpicks) for wooden fences, and the like. Drafts. It's also easy to give them a 'wood-like' look if you wish. Just run a stiff wire brush over one side before you start building, although it's not essential. The texture of the wood can be mimicked with paint or stained as it is a hard wood (birch I think). They also look good coated with a tan acrylic paint like Army Painter Soft or Strong Tone Washes instead of real wood stain (usually oil based). You can also use regular acrylic paints of any color. Overall they are very comfortable and I may go ahead and buy another box as the cost is very cheap especially when compared to balsa, basswood or similar woodwork. I'm not entirely sure I'll ever need 4,000 of these handy "boards" (2,000 per box), but if I needed them far into the future I'd be very disappointed to miss out on them at this price point. now lower price. ;-) Whatever it is, the one box of 2000 I bought is sufficient for my needs now (and for the foreseeable future) and the tiny planks are great for my wargames and other wood building projects. In fact, they would be good for almost any craft project that requires small, thin boards, especially as a substitute for very thin but much more expensive balsa, basswood, MDF, or plywood. I find them very useful and I highly recommend this product (Perfect Stix Perfectware PW CS 200-2000ct Square Wood Coffee Stirrer 5.5" (2000 Pack)).
