First of all, this product works as advertised. I bought a balsamic soap and an oil. If you can't trust the Amish, who can you trust? My routine is as follows and it keeps my beard dandruff free and just the right amount of shine. I use soap two, maybe three times a week, no more. Lather it up and let it sink in deeply. Leave on for a few minutes, then rinse well. Pat dry and then place a few drops of oil on your fingers and rub in deeply, targeting the skin under your beard. I rub whatever is on my hair or whatever is left of my hair. Give your beard a different look with a good hog bristle brush. I apply oil in the morning and balm with a brush in the evening. Adjust it as you see fit, but this works for me. A few words about the smell. If you want something that smells like a 15-year-old at a prom, you need something different. There is a mild aroma of cloves and liquorice that is very medicinal at first. After a few days I liked it very much, although I'm not a liquorice fan. The ingredients are wholesome and authentic and I'd rather have that than a great smelling beard. I am very happy with my purchase.
