I don't know why the light on the sewing machine is so dim. You need light to sew. My sewing room has great overhead lighting, but I'm casting a shadow on my sewing machine. I've been thinking of trying one of these lamps for a while and after reading many reviews I decided to take the plunge. OMG, I couldn't believe how much this improved my situation. It's so bright that when I'm done sewing, if I turn off the light first, I don't even know if I turned off the machine light. Then I turn off the car lights and there is literally NO difference. I love this light!
