Review on Acer G246HL Abd 24" LED Monitor - 1920X1080, 60Hz, Tilt Adjustment by Brian Rossetti

Revainrating 3 out of 5

In general not bad: my rating

I've been using this monitor for 3-4 years now and I think it's pretty good, especially for its price, but I've noticed a few things lately that are a bit annoying: Off. Part of my job is graphics and design (I'm a web developer) and I couldn't get this monitor to display the same colors as my other monitors. Things look washed out and very pale. Colors like light gray are almost invisible in many cases. Sometimes horizontal stripes appear, which can become quite noticeable. I'm not sure why this is happening. I've tried removing things that might be magnetic and tried adjusting the monitor's tilt, but that doesn't help. It might be due to the age of the monitor as I didn't realize it when I first got it. The tilt/angle adjustment is tedious as you have to remove the monitor stand and use tools (either a screwdriver or a wrench) to loosen the pivot and then make the adjustment. There's no way to adjust the monitor in the assembled position unless you leave the pivot loose (which is probably not recommended). - No HDMI port. It's pretty minor as I only use an adapter for my PC but my laptop doesn't have a VGA or DVI port (and those ports are becoming increasingly rare) so I can't use my laptop with a monitor. Overall it was pretty good and served me well, especially for the price. When I first got this I couldn't afford anything more expensive and I think it was good value for money. The most disturbing parts were definitely the color and the stripes, which I only noticed recently after 2-3 years of use.
