Based on the reviews people are happy with this 12 volt cigarette lighter and that helped me in my decision. I was looking for slightly larger than 16AWG wire and was glad it was 14AWG. But another thing that makes this connector good at 12V is the holding voltage on the sides (ground) which keeps it in place and prevents electrical tripping at the end. I made a small modification to this cable to ensure it doesn't get lost, I removed the smaller spring that sits inside the larger spring. I felt that the spring tension in the tip was too high. You see what needs to happen is that the 12v cigarette lighter stays in place and is connected to the power supply. There should be more tension on the sides. than the tension of the spring at the end of the piston. If the voltage at the tip of the plug is greater, then over time it will repel itself from its contact and turn off the power supply. Now I am very happy with this cable. I cut the cable in half and soldered different connectors on the ends to match my solar charger and allow me to charge it through my cigarette lighter.
