I read many reviews on this product and did research on other dietary supplements before purchasing it. I bought two 30 ounce canisters to try after reading a review that said they didn't see any results until the second canister was about to be completed. First about our dog and why we wanted to try the supplement. We have a 12 year old beagle. Almost two years ago he started having problems with his hip. The vet said he had mild hip osteoarthritis due to his age. He stopped jumping on the couch to join us. He had to be lifted onto the couch if he wanted to. He injured himself climbing the stairs and then limped. About six months ago he started itching and over time his scratching gradually got worse. It got to the point of licking his lips and chewing himself. Also, his fur didn't have the softness and shine it used to have. Back to the vet, says he has very dry skin and is probably reacting to something in our house. The vet gave us this or that and nothing helped, just masked his problems. So we ordered Nupro and gave him 1/2 cup twice a day along with a spoon. I mean, we didn't notice any change in him until the end of the 30 ounce container. He started itching less and sometimes jumped up off the sofa. Not always, but we helped him get up less. He no longer felt pain after walking up and down the stairs to go outside. At the end of the second container, we stopped helping him on the couch. He has no problem jumping up and down and now runs up and down the stairs when getting in and out. When the grass isn't wet, he hates it when his paws get wet. I know a hunting dog that we have. As for the itch, we haven't seen it yet. He no longer licks or chews. His fur has softened and regained its shine. Another thing he's never done is try to get his dog food and figured out how to open a dry storage container. So now it has to be closed. I think he really likes those things. There are a few things that others have complained about about this product that I agree with, but I'm fine. It may have changed the color of its whiskers, but a different colored pair of whiskers for a healthy dog is a good compromise. You can also smell his breath from 20 feet away after he takes the supplement. Again, I'm fine with that. I'm just glad he's doing much better. If you doubt it, I say: try it, but give it time. If you don't like it, just don't buy it again. But after seeing our two 30 ounce containers from 1/2 to 2nd and seeing the change I ordered this 5 lb container and will be buying it from now on.
