I love these sponges! I originally bought them for two purposes; Use it as a dry erase board eraser in class and on my flat board. You are great for both! I've found other uses for them as well. They are great for coloring sponges and as a sensory tool for students with ADHD (ensure student is old enough not to eat or destroy sponge). I cut them into smaller squares to use for all these purposes. Sponges are easily cut with scissors. I will say the packaging is strange when they arrive. He has a kind of oriental baby wrap. I think they should sell them differently. They are indeed extremely versatile. I haven't tried them, but they will probably work for makeup too. In general, it's useful to have them ready. I would recommend them.
