I regularly use an N95 disposable mask at work and this mask provides a much better seal than a disposable mask. - allows you to create/use your own filter. I cut out the filter pads from (new) vacuum bags (use the included filter pad as a template, as suggested in one of the previous reviews). Regular paper vacuum bag material is probably good for 10 microns, while HEPA vacuum bags are said to be good for 0.3 microns, basically the same as N95. ** not so big ** - the area of the filter surface is not very big. Depending on what type of filter pad is installed, it can feel a bit restrictive when you breathe in. It's fine with a paper vacuum bag filter pad installed (good for filtering dust), but when I put on a HEPA pad and breathe hard, the soft mouthpiece wants to shrink a bit when inhaling. (For comparison, the disposable N95 has about twice the surface area of the filter). All in all a good mask for the price.
