I tried it like everything else (eraser, pen compartment in case, separate pencil case) and this is honestly the best apple pencil gen 1 solution for me. The case is great if you don't use a pen, but I find pens essential (I'm an artist and a student, so I use a pencil for a very long time). The elastic is uncomfortable because the pencil has a unique width, so I found they were either too loose or they wore out over time. Also, it's difficult to find the perfect spot to stick it on without getting in the way of the triple case. The pencil case is just a nuisance. I really like this because the pencil isn't visible in my triplefold when I'm not using it, but I always have a secure storage compartment that I can count on! Also, it's SUPER sticky, maybe too sticky? I plan on keeping my case forever, but my iPad broke a bit recently, and I figured it had something to do with my old triple case (jury's out, folks). I tried ripping the case off and attaching it to the new triple case but the sticker on the case ripped off chunks of my old case straight away (to be honest my old case was very cheap and quite oddly designed which is maybe the Reason is my iPad went kerdonk). If you're considering this as a temporary fix, maybe not choose this? I think an elastic band might be the best way for you. However, if you are like me and want to have this in your case forever, this is perfect! I reordered it for my new case because I liked it so much even though it's on my iPad. 10/10!
