Good for the purpose

Well, first let me say that I didn't buy this to get rid of my mattress. I bought it to keep my mattress smelling musty and to protect it from high humidity. So, with that said, this is NOT for a mattress topper. It's plastic, noisy and so on. BUT for bags it's great. Big, roomy, has a sticky body. I give 5 stars because I don't use it properly. I think throwing away the mattress would be fine.
